“Join our internet marketing opportunity and you’ll be earning $10,000 a week in 3 months or less!”
We’ve all seen the emails, sales pages, and ads circulating around the internet that promise these types of results. They make it sound so easy. For just a few hours a day you can be the newest internet millionaire in just a few months, living in a grand mansion with incredibly exotic cars parked in the driveway.
Does that ever happen? Can those claims possibly be true?
For some people these things do happen. However, it is usually because of the long hard hours that are put into the background that you don’t see, or hear about, that creates this type of wealth. So, can this happen for regular people, with little experience, little money, and/or with a 40 hour week job looking to do something different?
Internet marketing is a great way for the “regular” Joe to create an extra income, or replace their job and dictate their own financial success. But, you should know some of the truths involved with internet marketing so you don’t get discouraged after you’ve been at it for a year and haven’t made a dime.
Internet Marketing Truth #1
You will need to put in some time in order to be successful with internet marketing. Of course, the amount of time you want to put into it will determine your level of success. That doesn’t mean you need to work 80 hours a week, stay tethered to the computer, and neglect your family and friends.
It just means that you won’t do it 30 minutes a day. For most income opportunities a few hours, 3 to 5 hours, a day spent online doing some focused work will get you started.
Internet Marketing Truth #2
It will take some time before you see any of the BIG money. By BIG money I’m talking about enough to replace your current income. That’s really the goal for a lot of people when they start. Once they reach that plateau, you can begin to work a little longer and do some more things to leverage your time in order to increase your income. This could take 6 to 8 months or even a year.
Internet Marketing Truth #3
All internet marketing opportunities are not created equal. There are those types of companies that shout about all the money you can make. Unfortunately, they never pan out. Then there are those that, while don’t outright promise millions of dollars, are committed to helping you see the kind of success you desire.
Internet marketing can be a financial disaster or an income goldmine. It all depends on where you mindset is and what you know about it. These truths will help guide you through the pits and keep you on steady ground.

Sound advice from somebody who has clearly learned the hard way (probably the only way). I love working in IM but have to agree that if it was as easy as some make it sound, there wouldn’t be any need for “professionals”!
